HERMANDAD is about the healing power into a community group. This interdisciplinary performance mix dance, visual art and sound to create a strong esthetic experience around one of the most urgent topic: brotherhood and sisterhood.
On stage four dancers initiate the audience to a trans-personal journey, asking for help and becoming their one guides into an underworld dimension.
The show is dived into three parts, that can be presented also separately. At the beginning, the dancers crew are into the audience area offering an immersive and close up experience to the seekers of Hermandad. In the second part, dancers re-act a kind of ritual inspired to the fertilely Maya one, manipulating a huge paper stick. In the third part, the space explode like a pop-corn, letting appear a giant colored paper landscape that reveal on holistic vision of the world.
My intention is to investigate the empowerment inside the triangle ‘the Other’-‘the ritual’-‘the world’. Actually, after two production about violence and community (WRECK in 2017 and HIVE in 2019). I felt the need to find an exit to those asphyxiant times in which we live. According to the world of Bruno Later, my question was ‘Where to land?’
I started a research to go deeper and deeper into what was at the origins of our situation. And, suddenly, I felt the need to open myself to non-eurocentric culture. Thanks to our international tours, I have been in contact with Middle East and Latino America shaman cultures. That changed my life.
The meeting with the anthropologist Eduardo Viverio de Castro gave us the possibility to imagine an other vision of the world, coming from the ameridians cosmologies. The journey was starting…
