After the agreement between UE and Turkey, the Greek islands are welcoming many refugees who are no longer in a position to cross Greece and Bulgaria.
ARIANE (eu) phonie is a symbolic journey that aims to explore the concept of frontier. This concept is seen through the semantic prism of listening, sound, vibration, and ear. Because the sounds cross the bodies without destroying them. Where are we when we are in music?
The action takes place in Crete. Where a group of migrants work as beekeepers. They take Greek lessons. They learn an ancient language, whose sounds evoke divinities, archetypes, categories of the collective European imagination. Their teachers tell them local and mythical stories. So we travel in the past, or perhaps in the future, or perhaps in an extended present. One of these stories speaks about Minos, Dedalus, Arianne. Legendary characters, they set boundaries between pre-classical and classical cultures. These characters are doors to an unknown world.
The myth of Labyrinth is a tale that tells the foundation and the fall-end of the Minoan civilization in Crete. We imagine this narrative to dynamise it through a gesture of plastic guerrillas. Because perhaps our species is still a Minoan society.
